Steven joined the firm in 2011 concentrating on supporting the executive team in delivering a quality service to clients. He also oversees all sales and marketing activities.
Main role:Steven deals with the firm’s marketing and client care charter. He also spends a great deal of time scouring the region for the very best emerging talent in the accountancy sector. Steven also supports certain clients in their own marketing activities, both digital and non digital.
Specialisms: Steven specialises in digital marketing and head hunting technical staff. He also obsesses with delivering a first rate customer experience.
Passions: Steven enjoys all elements of technology and likes to keep up with the latest gadgetry. He has a young family and so most time away from work is now spent trying to keep up with his son Elliot.

Qualified Chartered Accountant and Barrister, David previously worked as Head of Tax (London) with a national accountancy practice. David joined the practice in 2014 having relocated to Malvern .
Main role: David works on a broad range of tax matters including Corporate Tax and planning. David has an exacting mind and is one of the go to people for most tax matters.
Specialisms: David covers most elements of Tax but is particularly keen on specialist sectors such as agriculture, legal and technology. He oversees the majority of Corporate Tax services and is an expert in Research and Development tax credits.
Facts:David started his career qualifying as a Barrister but the pull of accountancy was too strong and so he retrained as a Chartered Accountant.
Passions: As well as being a family man, David is a keen explorer and traveller and has found himself in such places as the Galapagos Islands and the Himalayas.

Paul joined the firm over 15 years ago and steadily progressed through the ranks by delivering sensible, commercial business advice and thorough audit processes. Paul now oversees all audit clients and processes.
Main role: Paul is part of the senior management team and deals with client relationships and the management of audits and accounts production. Paul has been with the business for over 15 years and so is considered the go to person for most issues.
Specialisms: As well as being the key point of contact for a portfolio of clients, Paul oversees the firm’s audit portfolio. He also plays a key role in developing the trainee team of chartered accountants. Paul also gets involved in system improvements and streamlining for both the firm and its clients.
Facts: Paul is a keen cyclist and has led the firm’s bike team on charity rides, most recently, across the UK, Holland and Belgium.
Passions: Paul is a family man and away from work spends most of his time supporting children, Tristan and Felicity’s studies and extra curricular activities. He is also an arm chair supporter of Aston Villa FC.

Michelle has been with the firm for 15 years and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2004. Michelle was promoted to Accounts & Audit Director in 2012. She oversees training and workflow across the firm.
Main role: Michelle controls the work flow across the business. She is a qualified accountant and plays a key role in developing the entire staff across the business. As well as being a key contact for a number of clients, Michelle plays an active role in the developing the firm’s internal processes and digital systems.
Specialisms: Michelle deals with all general business but also has expert knowledge in the medical and legal sectors. She is comfortable with both small, single operator businesses and large, national companies.
Facts: Michelle plays an active role in the annual ICAEW Business Games, mentoring the National winning team in 2012 and has been a finalist in 2013 and 2014/15.
Passions: Away from the high paced accountancy world Michelle likes to unwind in sports cars and can often be found in her bright yellow Vindicator two seater.

Jeremy was born and brought up in Worcestershire. He qualified as a Chartered accountant in Birmingham before joining PKF, as partner for their West Midland office. Jeremy joined Bill to set up Ballard Syree in 1991.
Main role: Jeremy works with both owner managed businesses and large corporates within the Audit and Accountancy department. Due to Jeremy’s wealth of experience within the healthcare sector, he also plays a major role in the Healthcare department at BDSW and works with a number of GP practices, Super Partnerships and Federated entities.
Specialisms: Corporates, Healthcare, Automotive & Professional Partnerships
Facts: Jeremy is the recent past Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales Healthcare Committee.
Passions: Jeremy is a confirmed Francophile and keen cyclist. He dreams of one day cycling up the classic mountain stage of the Tour de France, so far he has only achieved this in the car!

Mark joined Ballard Dale Syree Watson in 2012 having worked with Global accountancy firm Ernst & Young. Mark has previously headed up large, national audits but also helped support the needs of local, owner managed businesses.
Main role: Mark works with both owner managed businesses and large corporates and is also very active within the technology and healthcare sectors where he acts as external CFO for a number of Super Partnerships and Federations.

Facts: Mark is also a qualified scuba diver!
Passions: Mark is very keen on technology and the way in which the sector can streamline and improve the way in which businesses operate – he is also a dab hand on Angry Birds! Mark is also one of a very small handful of chartered accountants in the region who have successfully set up both healthcare federations and Super Partnerships.

Matthew qualified with Newby Castleman in Leicester, then joined his family firm of W W Watson in Droitwich in 1993. As well as a qualified chartered accountant, Matthew is also a qualified Chartered Tax Advisor and joined Ballard Dale Syree Watson in 2005.
Main Role: Matthew is partner and co head of the Healthcare team at BDSW and is widely respected as one of the leading medical accountants in the field and works with medical consultants, practices and a number of Super Partnerships and Federations.
Specialisms: Matthew is part of our specialist medical team advising Doctors, Dentists and Consultants on tax and accountancy issues. Clients specifically benefit from Matthew’s accounts and taxation qualifications to ensure a 360 approach to affairs.
Facts: Matthew is active in Round Table and very busy organising the social life of his children!
Passions: Family life, and making sure he has enough time to watch the family grow. Matthew is also a passionate Leicester City Football fan.

After completing her Economics & Statistics Degree, Liz qualified with a local Malvern firm, as a chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor before joining Ballard Dale Syree Watson in 2006. We soon realised just how good she was and she became a partner in 2008.
Main role: Liz has an in-depth knowledge of all areas of tax, providing detailed strategic tax advice on matters relating to trusts, companies, family businesses and individual tax planning. Liz is widely renowned as one of the leading tax minds in the Midlands – we think further!
Specialisms: All elements of personal and corporate Taxation
Facts: Liz has always been involved with her local community, first as a Girl Guide leader and more recently with the local youth club at her church. No wonder she has a good head for heights having been persuaded to try out abseiling on more than one occasion.
Passions: Liz is a keen wildlife photographer and a novice golfer but enjoys nothing more than skiing. Not sure if it’s the hot chocolate or the sense of speed as she makes her way down the slopes!

James trained in RSM Bentley Jennison’s Bristol offices, qualifying there in September 2007. Whilst at RSM, he worked in a number of departments, including assurance & advisory, personal tax, audit and international projects team. James spent two years based in the firm’s London and Milton Keynes offices in the audit and accounts team before joining Ballard Dale Syree Watson in January 2010.
Specialisms: Delivering accounts and audit services to a wide range of large corporate clients, including a number of personal tax clients, as well as providing interim FD services to VC backed start-up companies. James has a particular interest in the Information Technology sector and has experience in rapid growth projects within the UK, the US and Far East.
Facts: In 2011, James was named ICAEW west midlands young accountant of the year. He impressed the judging panel with his commercial awareness and strong interest in the succession of the industry

Bill Ballard founded the practice in 1985. Initially Bill gained a civil engineering degree but the pull of accountancy was too strong, and Bill retrained as a chartered accountant, and then worked with Price Waterhouse in Birmingham and Melbourne, Australia.
Bill has a family fruit farm run by his wife Louisa, and he is on the ICAEW’s National Committee for Farming and Rural Business.
Main Role: Throughout his career, Bill has acted as a business adviser for small and medium sized businesses.
Specialisms: Bill leads our specialist farming team as well as advising our family owned businesses.
Facts: Bill runs a successful fruit farm with his wife Louisa. We know where to get the toffee apples now!!
Passions: Bill enjoys sailing, golf and developing the fruit farm, as well as keeping a track on four grown up children.
